Session

Introduction

What a couple of great sessions we had in March!

Peter took us through TypeScript and Richard discussed and demoed DevOps with Visual Studio Team Services. They were fabulous sessions and we had some great feedback.

However, Microsoft have released the hotly awaited SharePoint Framework in February. So we thought we better find out more. So we have Bill Ayers and Mark Stokes taking us through what it all means

As ever we will have free Pizza and the obligatory SharePint afterwards. January’s SharePint included a bit of a sit down and there were some great discussions going on so please join us for that.

Sessions

1) Development Evening – “Modern” Client-Side Development and the SharePoint Framework – Bill Ayers (MVP) and Mark Stokes (MVP)

First the future was full trust solutions, then sandbox solutions and then apps which became add-ins. Now; introducing the new SharePoint Framework! Is this “yet another” SharePoint development model?

In this evening of development goodness, MVPs Mark Stokes and Bill Ayers are going to look at the “modern” client-side development story for web parts and more, and the open-source web development toolchain. The world is changing and our SharePoint solutions need to stay relevant in this new world of user expectations and user devices. The SharePoint Framework is designed to provide a supported, responsive and robust client-side development model that gets around some of the shortcomings of ad-hoc techniques like JavaScript injection. After a break for food and refreshments we’ll look at some practical examples using the new SPFx development model and discuss whether this really is the future of SharePoint and Office 365 development.
